Vogue School of Performing Arts began almost fifty years ago.  Founder Meryl Thomas combined teaching with competing at the highest level.  Six times Australian dance champion, they had a huge following as competitors, while Meryl travelled many kilometres every year to their studios in country Victoria, introducing hundreds of youngsters to the joy of ballet, jazz and tap combined with Ballroom made for a very interesting lifestyle. From Kilmore, Seymour, and Hoppers Crossing to Kyneton, Meryl shared her love of dance with them all, as well as in the Melbourne studios from Broadmeadows to Maribyrnong to Puckle Street, Moonee Ponds.

Many of Vogue’s ballroom dancing students involved themselves with the social side of dance, travelling throughout Australia and around the world to take part in competitions.  Many went on to become teachers and champions in their own right.

Dancing to the Thomas family was more than just a business, it was a lifestyle choice.  Their three children were involved with the studios from a young age.  All the family members are still engaged in teaching, competing or examining young dancers.
